A classically constructed full 'Admiralty' style model of a typical 74-gun ship, as found in the French Navy during the 1780s. It shows in excellent craftsmanship every construction detail explored in Jean Boudriot’s research published in The Seventy-Four Gun Ship, . The French 74-gun ship-of-the-line represents the expression of the art of the naval architect, and formed the backbone of the fleets in the latter part of the 18th century. Boudriot has based this work on various Navy Board models found in the French Musee de la Marine collection representing ships of the 1780s: the ships that fought in the American War of Independence and later in the French Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars from 1793 to 1815.
