Lobster Boat

By: William E. Hitchcock

Waterline diorama shows a typical “Downeast” lobsterboat of Wells, Maine plying her trade near a characteristic bell buoy maker. The 36’ boat Yankee shows a starboard side trawl winch set up and some lobster traps on board while a two-man crew works her own trawl line of white buoys. The hull is of solid wood with a built-up coach house / cabin; all is artistically painted and weathered. The sea is sculpted from plasticine and hand painted. The diorama is mounted in a mahogany base frame with inlaid satinwood banding and glazed cover trimmed in brass.
