Modified Black Swan class naval sloop built by the British shipyard of Scotts & Stephen, launched June 16, 1943 and sunk by German torpedoes off Kola Inlet on the White Sea on March 20, 1945, following service as an escort sloop to a North Atlantic convoy bound for Archangel during the war. She had general dimensions of 299'6" LOA, beam 38'6", draft 11'2", tonnage 1,350. She is shown slightly weathered and realistically portrayed under way. Solid hull construction of holly, with all superstructure, deckhouses, armor, boats and gear made of holly shavings, brass or wire. Model is set in a wood carved and painted sea, and mounted in a custom stained mahogany base, glazed cover trimmed in brass.
