Nader Taheri (1962 – )

The gallery has been fortunate to employ the professional services of Mr. Taheri since 2001. His range and scope of model making skills along with his art background has contributed greatly to the various work undertaken by the gallery, many of which are beyond ship models. He has also been a major collaborator with many of our key marine model artists such as William Hitchcock, Richard Glanville, David Spy, Bernd Braatz, Joaquim Maristany, Stephen Henninger and Rex Stewart. His ability to refine or enhance elements of paint work, metal fittings, rare materials, or decorative details has given their models that added touch of quality required by the Gallery standards.

His models or conservation work, under the auspices of the Gallery, includes the Hart Nautical Museum at MIT, the Peabody Essex Museum of Salem, Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum in Savannah, The Mariners’ Museum of Newport News, the Maryland Historical Society, American Merchant Marine Museum, the Farnsworth Museum, Castle Island Association, National Museum of the U.S. Navy at the Washington Navy Yard. U.S. National Park Service at the Fort McHenry National Monument, American Yacht Club, Newport Reading Room, and some leading corporate collections such as, MBNA North America (now Bank of America collection), and Lands’ End.
