Horace Cobb (1919 – 2009)

While building the test model of the 25’ ketch in preparation for building the full-sized boat, the builder discovered that it was just as much fun to build a model as a full-sized boat. Furthermore, he was not restricted by the boat’s size or his workshop’s limitations. Dr. Cobb began building small scale model ships in 1973. Alternating his ship model presentations between the 3/32” and 50’ = 1” scales, and from waterline to full-hull miniature shipyard scenes, he most enjoys 18th, 19th and early 20th century vessels in 3/32” to 1/8” scales, and specializes in this type.
