University, Mr.
Chambers followed
his family’s
120-year legacy
of shipbuilding
by turning to the
creation of half-hull
models in 1973.
Hoping through his
art to help “preserve
this nation’s
rich maritime heritage,”
his pieces can be
seen at numerous
east and west coast
yacht clubs, the
Peabody Essex Museum
in Salem, Massachusetts,
and in various restaurants
and private collections
throughout the United
States.

Three-masted 185' schooner yacht, built 1903 at Shooter's Island, NY. In
1905 she set a record as a pleasure vessel under sail for crossing the ocean
for which she was named, thereby winning the transatlantic race for the Kaiser's
