Successful America’s Cup defender of 1893 defeated the British Challenger Valkyrie II. Vigilant was a centerboard sloop owned by C. Oliver Iselin and syndicate and was designed by N.G. Herreshoff, built by Herreshoff Manufacturing and skippered by William Hansen. She measured 117’3” long overall (86’10” at the waterline) with a beam of 22’4” and a draught of 16’4”. The model is constructed of solid basswood on the waterline lift method with individually laid deck planking and appropriate deck furniture. Model is highly detailed with brass and mahogany fittings, with raised gaff to show her topsail span. Mounted on a natural mahogany baseboard, glazed cover trimmed in brass.
